Governing Body Terms of Reference – Teaching, Learning & Curriculum

 

Roles and responsibilities of the Teaching, Learning & Curriculum Committee at Brookside Primary School

 

This committee shall meet each term. Its aim and purpose is to understand, monitor and review statutory and non-statutory obligations in order to ensure a challenging and vibrant curriculum, excellence in behaviour and outstanding progress and achievement.

 

The following terms of reference apply:

  • To act on matters delegated by the full Governing Body
  • To contribute to the school improvement plan
  • To carry out the responsibilities of the Governing Body with regard to all curriculum matters, including the implementation of the National Curriculum.
  • To advise the Governing Body on its curriculum policy.
  • To ensure that the requirements of children with special educational needs are met.
  • To advise the Governing Body on its policy for sex education.
  • To oversee health education within school
  • To develop and review policies identified with the in the schools policy review programme.
  • To ensure that the requirements of children with special needs are met, as laid out in the Code of Practice.
  • To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of leadership and management.
  • To monitor and evaluate the impact of quality of teaching of pupil progress and standards of achievement including underachieving groups.
  • To monitor and evaluate the impact of continuing professional development on improving staff performance.
  • To ensure that all children have equal opportunities
