At Brookside Primary School, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of the children. We believe that an exciting, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.
The Government gives extra funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
Schools must spend the funding to improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils, but they are free to choose the best way of using the money.
