This afternoon, year 5 learnt that gravity pulls all objects to the centre of the Earth.

We learnt that all objects are pulled with the same force by gravity, so when falling, they should take the same time to reach the ground.

However, air can slow down the object. This is called air resistance. How much air resistance there is, depends on how big the object is.

To demonstrate this we had 2 sheets of paper. The flat piece of paper had a bigger area than the crumpled paper so the flat paper had more air resistance and fell slower than the crumpled paper.
