
Haiku Poems
This week, children in Year 4 have been exploring and writing their own Haiku poems about Nature and the Seasons.
Haiku poems have a unique syllable structure (5-7-5) over 3 lines.

Humanism Speaker
This afternoon, Mr Brassington from Humanism UK came into class to build on the children's knowledge and understanding of Humanism. The children asked some great questions and gave some very detailed answers.
Well Done Year 4!
Classifying, Grouping & Sorting
As part of our new Science learning (Living Things and their Habitats) , children have been grouping and sorting buttons and play animals. The children then created Venn diagrams and Carroll Diagrams. A very Science and Maths afternoon!

Yes or No? Branching Databases
Over the last 5 weeks, children in Year 4 have been developing their understanding of what a branching database is and how to create one, using j2eBranch.

Online Safety - Too Much Information?!?
As part of our Online Safety Curriculum, children have been revising and learning about what information they should and shouldn't share online.
Soap Sculptures
In Art, children have been exploring the work of Barbara Hepworth. She is known for creating sculptures by carving.
The children designed and carved their own soap sculpture.
It was great fun, but very messy!

Year 4 Online Safety - Copycats
Recently, year 4 have been looking at plagiarism online (aka copycats!).
In class, we used this idea to look more widely at questioning the quality
of information online.

Year 4 - Smokebusters Fire & Rescue
Year 4 had a smashing morning on Thursday with the Fire & Rescue service coming in to teach the class about fire safety. In addition, the children were treated to a tour of the fire engine by two of the firemen!

Biscuit Mountains
This afternoon, the children in Year 4 have been using squirty cream (molten rock) and biscuits (tectonic plates) to answer: 'How are Mountains formed?'
Of course, we had to eat them afterwards.

Disgusting Digestion
Children in Year 4 have been consolidating their Science learning on the digestive system.
