Year 5 travelled back in time to follow the incredible journey of Annie Edson Taylor, the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel! ????

As part of our English learning, we created posters to show each stage of Annie’s daring adventure — from nervously preparing her barrel to proudly emerging from the water. Using our grammar focus on fronted adverbials, we described when, where, and how key moments in her journey took place.

We also thought carefully about how Annie might have felt at each stage — anxious, determined, and finally relieved and proud.

The finished posters were full of vivid descriptions, expressive language, and bold artwork, showing both the excitement and bravery of Annie’s historic feat.

Well done, Year 5 — your writing and creativity really brought Annie’s story to life!
