Today, Year 5 have been exploring insulators and conductors through hands-on circuit work. After recapping how a simple circuit works, the children tested a range of classroom materials by placing them into a gap in the circuit to see whether the bulb lit up. They made sure the setup stayed the same each time so the test was fair, then recorded which materials allowed electricity to flow (conductors) and which ones didn’t (insulators). The class loved predicting, testing and discovering which everyday objects electricity can travel through!
