This week, Year 4 have been learning about sound and vibrations in Science. To help us understand how sound travels, the children made their own string telephones.

Working in pairs, they used cups and string to test how sound moves from one place to another. They discovered that when the string is tight, the sound travels clearly, but when it is loose, the sound becomes much quieter.

Through this hands-on activity, the children learned that sound is made by vibrations, and these vibrations can travel through materials like string.

It was a fantastic lesson, with lots of excitement, curiosity and great use of scientific vocabulary!
