We have had great fun this week in Year  6 learning about Evolution, Inheritance and Adaptation.

We have played games and simulated experiments in order to prove (or disprove) our own hypotheses and predictions.

We have played:

Camo-creature - a game which shows how animals have adapted to camouflage in their environment.

Mr Men Inheritance - to simulate offspring of certain Mr Men and Little Miss characters.

The Pepper Moth Experiment - we hid our own moths in the playground and discovered the beneficial characteristic of camouflage to help the species survive.

Dr Kettlewell's Experiment - another simulation game which shows how predators more readily eat certain moths based on their environment (https://askabiologist.asu.edu/peppered-moths-game/play.html)

Battle of the Beaks - a game similar to the 1980's favourite "Hungry Hippos"! Here, we simulated which beak was better at eating which food types. This was to recreate Charles Darwin's findings from his famous finches of the Galapagos.

A very busy, fun, and educational week!
