What a brilliant buzz in Year 4 this morning! We were lucky enough to take part in a hands-on STEM workshop run by the Engineering Development Trust (EDT) – and what a challenge it was!
Armed with just straws and a single metre of sticky tape, the children set about building the strongest structure they could. It was amazing to see how quickly their ideas took shape – triangles, cubes and some very creative designs all made an appearance!
Then came the big one: design and build the longest rollercoaster. Cue lots of teamwork, trial and error, and some serious determination. There were moments of collapse and frustration, but the resilience and problem-solving on show was something to be proud of.
Definitely some engineers of the future in our midst – well done, Year 4!
