Today, Year 4 stepped back in time during an exciting visit to Weaver Hall Museum, helping bring their history learning on Anglo-Saxon Britain to life.
During the workshop, the children explored why the Anglo-Saxons came to Britain, discovering the causes and consequences of why the Anglo-Saxons moved to England. Children then investigated what life was like in an Anglo-Saxon village, learning about homes, jobs, beliefs and daily routines.
A particular highlight of the trip was the chance to examine artefacts found in an Anglo-Saxon grave. By studying these carefully, the children were able to piece together clues about the lives, beliefs, and status of the people buried with them—just like real archaeologists. This hands-on experience helped them understand how objects can reveal stories about the past.
The children became true history detectives—asking questions, making observations, and forming their own interpretations.
