This week, our young Year 4 historians created their own clay chess pieces inspired by Anglo‑Saxon warriors. From helmets and shields to bold warrior poses, each model showed fantastic creativity and growing historical understanding.

It’s believed that the Anglo‑Saxons enjoyed playing strategy board games, much like early forms of chess.
