Year 1 Science
It's been a busy Science day today starting off with an amazing Science assembly in the hall with the whole school. We hope the children were inspired to become a scientist. In Year 1 we continued to explore materials and their properties. We found out which materials were absorbent.
Y6 Science - Electricity
KNOWLEDGE: We have associated the brightness of a lamp or the volume of a buzzer with the number and voltage of cells used in the circuit.
SKILLS: We used recognised symbols to draw a simple circuit in a diagram.
VOCABULARY: component, cell, battery, circuit, resistor, switch, buzzer,…
Y2 Science - animals and their habitats
Year 2 have been exploring different habitats, following their trip to Chester Zoo.
Knowledge: Identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend…
Year 1 Zoo trip
Year 1 really enjoyed their visit to Chester Zoo. We have been learning about Antarctica and studying facts about penguins.
It was a very cold and snowy day at the zoo. The children and staff felt like we were actually in Antarctica!
Y2 - Zoo trip
Year 2 spent a very chilly but fun day exploring animal habitats at Chester Zoo.
Knowledge: I can identify that most living things live in habitat to which they are suited.
Skills: I can describe some of the world's habitats.
Vocab: grasslands, desert, rainforest, polar,…
Year 5 Science - Irreversible Changes
In science today, year 5 explored what irreversible change would happen when an acid (vinegar) and alkali (bicarbonate of soda) were mixed together.
We had a method to follow, we were asked what caused the bag would inflate, and what would happen if we changed the size of the bag.
We…
Science
Year 2 have been learning all about animal habitats.
Knowledge:
-
Identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each…
Winter activities in Nursery
The Nursery children have been exploring what happens during wintertime.
We read the story of 'Snow Bears' and discussed freezing and melting.
We explored fake snow talking about what it felt and looked like, and we made hot toast like the Snow Bears in the story, and melted butter…
Winter Science
Reception class investigated ice. We compared a bowl of water to a bowl of ice and discussed which might be colder. We used a thermometer to measure the temperature of each bowl. We then investigated which substances might melt the ice the quickest; salt, sugar or bicarbonate soda? The children…
